Often people who gain MANY followers quickly, do not have more than a couple comments on their posts.
Why do you suppose this is? Is it because as they follow blog after blog after blog they forget to be personal? They forget to actually read the posts and connect with the writers? I am not trying to condemn these sweet people. I have been guilty of following someone just for the sake of following. But, then I had to ask myself, is that the kind of following I want?
No. I would rather have followers who care about what I am saying and want to come back. I would rather make friends, have relationships with few, than have a large number on my Google Friend Connect.
The bottom line is blogging takes time. Bloggers are either going to spend their blogging time one of two ways. Getting a hundred followers a week by just clicking "follow" and leaving a generic comment. Or taking the time to follow a few a day, or a week. Searching for the ones that you connect with, and leaving meaningful comments.
I have decided I want to be the latter....what are your thoughts on this topic? (Please be nice!)
