The statistics are flowing in and Facebook is no longer simply a place for college kids to post pictures. Facebook is in competition with Google when it comes to searches and ads. All of this speaks to the fact that businesses need to be up to date when it comes to Facebook as well.
Just because businesses are using Facebook does not mean that Facebook as become Google and has ceased to be social media. Facebook is still very social and is not changing in that respect. Therefore is stands to reason that when using Facebook you have to understand a few things about how people work- especially women.

Let's talk about the friend request. Becoming friends with someone is the first step to creating a relationship on Facebook. Once you are friends you can suggest they like fan pages, join groups, you can tag them in notes, posts, videos, statuses and write on their wall. The information you put out on Facebook has the potential to reach not only your friends, but their friend's friends and so on. That sounds like free viral marketing to me!

Facebook Marketing to Women- The Importance of Group/Fan Page

I heard on the radio the other day that Generation Y is being named the Facebook generation. With the explosion of social media,  the face of business is changing. If a business isn't online, then they are behind the times. And if a business isn't marketing on Facebook they are crippling themselves. Recently I wrote an article on How Not to Market to Women on Facebook. I want to go into more detail on how to use Facebook fan and group pages to market to women on Facebook.

You may be asking yourself, why women? Because social media and especially Facebook is social. Most of the people dominating and interacting regularly on Facebook are woman. Also, statistics show that the majority of the online buying decisions are being made by women.

Before we get started I think it is crucial to point out the differences between a group and a fan page. A Fan page gives your friends an opportunity to "like" you. You can link a blog and twitter account up to a fan page where with a group page you have the ability to message all the members in your group. Also a group page encourages more interaction from the members.

So lets look at three reasons why it is important for you as a business owner to be marketing to women on Facebook through Group/Fan Pages.

1. Pages give you a platform for yourself. company, and products. Your Facebook page/ group gives you a place for you to talk about your company, products, employees and any other information that you think customers may be interested in.

2. Pages give you an opportunity to promote other people who are like you but not in competition with you. One of the most important and over looked aspects of marketing online is being seen as not only a source for products, but for information. The more you point to useful information that isn't all yours the more people will listen to what you have to say and be interested in whatever you are selling.

3. Pages get you publicity. Every time you post something on your Facebook page/ group  Your post is automatically placed on the main feeds of all the people who have either liked your page or joined your group. You can also tag people in your posts. When this happens the information is posted not only on your page but on their wall as well. So everyone who happens by their profile will see the link back to you.

Business is changing. Marketing online is crucial to success. And Facebook is no longer simply for sharing pictures and talking about the weekend. Learning how to market to women on Facebook using group and fan pages will further your success online, but is only tapping the surface of internet marketing.

How Not To Market to Women on Facebook

My husband and I just went to see the movie The Social Network last weekend. If you haven't heard about it, The Social Network is all about the creation of Facebook. It was a very interesting, kind of sad movie. I also felt like it was extremely personal because Facebook is so much a part of my life.

What is there not to like about Facebook? 1 in 14 people in the world are on Facebook, and this is a pretty amazing statistic considering that you can't even get a profile unless you are over the age 13.

So it stands to reason that if you have a business and you are not marketing on the largest social network out there, it is time you joined the ranks of people who are. However, please keep reading, because there is a right and a wrong way to market on Facebook. Especially if you are targeting women, and you should be, because social media is where females are spending their time.

Let's talk about 3 things you should NOT be doing when marketing to women on Facebook.

Randomly request to be friends without adding a personal message with some sort of explanation as to why you should be Facebook friends. When you add a personal message to a friend request you are showing that you are a real person who sees them as a real person as well. You are telling them that you feel like they have something to offer to you as well as you do to them. You make them feel like more than just another potential sales lead.

Invite someone to join a group and then spam message them multiple times a week. This person did not opt in to your mailing list when they joined your group and they will begin to not pay attention to anything that you are sending if you overdo it. Not to mention that they also may just leave your group all together. Choose carefully the messages you send and make them personal and friendly sounding. Visit the members in your groups pages and be encouraging. Be a friend to them and they will want to know and be interested in what you have to say.

Make your group/fan page all about you. This is something I wish I had known before I started marketing myself on Facebook. It is so important to make yourself look like a resource of good information on your topic. If your group or fan page just looks like one big advertisement for you, that is a big turn off.

With Facebook the possibilities to market yourself, your business, and your products for free are endless. But if you don't do it in a polite, sensitive, friendly way no one will listen to you. Especially not the women. To learn more about other free marketing methods and to see how you can get the tools you need to market your business online visit http://www.stephaniempage.com.

Facebook List Building Marketing With Master Strategies

Facebook is the buzz word. Everyone loves Facebook. Employers look at prospective employees on Facebook, friends find high school comrades, and parents keep tabs on their kids social lives. But how can business owners take advantage of Facebook? Let's look at just one way you can use marketing strategies on Facebook to build a list for your business.
Step 1: Search for groups in your business niche. On Facebook you can go into groups and search by topic. Let's say that you want to search for people who have a home business. You can search for groups related to home business. Then you have a whole group of people with the same interest as you right at your fingertips.
Step 2: Make friends with the group admins. When you make a friend request you want to make sure you add a personal note. In this personal note it would be a good idea to make comment about their group. This shows that you are interested, that your a real person and it sets your friend request a part from all the rest.
Step 3: Build a Relationship. Now you are friends, you can do a variety of things. Start off by giving free information they might be interested in, or compliments on what they are posting. Become their cheerleader. Then, invite them to join your group, look at your fan page and eventually you can send them links to your opt in pages.
When using Facebook marketing with master strategies to build your list, remember it can't always be all about you. You have to give to get. Also Facebook is a social network, so you must be social. Being pushy and sending out link after link won't get you anywhere.
